Parts

I know I have issues with bikes and parts, but I like to think it as a healthy obsession. Most of what I buy is funded by other parts I have bought and sold on. At various points you have to have a bit of fun outing things together and seeing what you can muster.

I sneaked an hour on the way home from work today, cleaned off the spare bench and started stacking parts on it....

I scored some extended springers dirt cheap from the states, they are to be put on it; possibly narrowed.....

I got home and there was a little delivery as I was brewing up...

I'll have to get them up and mocked up soon.

I've a pan box and primary, so maybe I should start clearing out parts and saving for a motor....

Street Scrambler Project For Sale

I've had someone express a bit of interest in the street scrambler, and am tempted to sell it. Its not going to go on the cheap as its a good base and all the time consuming bits have been done on it.

Its really needing powder coat, paint and some tarting up....

this is how it sat when it was running...

The engine is currently out of it, and will require a bit of a clean up, pipes are custom stainless steel, and could do with a clean up and polish. The tank has been re-mounted since this shot (in the same place) and I have new replacement graphics to match the ones on the tank. The engine has a Hugh's handbuilt PMA fitted and a boyer bransden ignition.

Wiring is complete, and it ran about 12 months ago - I had issues, but that was down to the VM34 carbs that were on it at the time. I recommend that a stock set of carbs are put on it, or you have more patience and knowledge at setting up carbs than me.

I know its still a project, but I know how much work is in this to get it finished, and what it will be worth when done. V5 in my name in place, I think I have a smaller number plate also...

PM me if your interested - waiting to hear back from another offer, but don't really mind if it sits up the barn for a couple of years either...

Can also do deals to include one or both of the spare engines I have if you wanted to go down the re-phased route.

if i'm totally honest, its a nice looking bike, but just not my thing. I like stupid looking choppers....

Trouble with a Capital P!

Things may be a bit slow for me over the next few months. Absolutely stoked that my first child - Jack Vincent James Paterson arrived on 24th November (2013)!

He's an absolute Beut - Definitely takes after his mother!

This little guy is gonna have all the cool stuff I wanted as a kid. I've already started on his lowrider stroller, and I've been telling him that one day (when i'm old and decrepit and when he can pull my hands off it) he will have a chance of inheriting my Panhead!

Oil tank

Made a start on the oil tank this week. Not had much time, but little bits and often is the name of the game!

Seat

Mocked up the seat on Friday. Happy with the concept

Cancelled meeting

Got my meeting cancelled yesterday, so headed up the barn for a bit of therapy. I scored a clean rebuilt bsa gearbox for the 45. That'll save me a load of time in the long run

I started mocking up the oil tank from styrofoam, it's quick and easy to work with when mocking things up. I worked out where the mag kill switch will go and cut a recess for it to sit in.

I wanted the oil tank to be ribbed to match up with the engine. Easy enough to do in foam, not gonna be that easy in steel!

I also started to get the lines on the seat sorted....

45 engine back!

Got the engine back from Baz last night. Absolutely stoked at how well its come up! would have been rude to have waited, so under the cover of darkness I slipped up to the barn and put the engine in the frame. It looks ace - still a long way to go though. Really dislike any of the seat ideas I had, so back to the drawing board on that!

Muddy struts!

Had an afternoon spare today, so went off to the lair for a potch. Decided on making the mudguard mounts; and to use some tyre levers I had on the bench. I see a lot of re-used parts and ornaments on builds, a lot of the time they don't seem to work. I figured that with enough cutting and bending I could get just what I wanted....

Straightened out the end with the heat torch, then put the right link in them to fit around the wheel....

Then I wanted the top narrower, so it was a case of slice, tighten in vice, slice some more and so on...

Stock and chopped above...

Then welding them up with the tig.

Then I turned up a bung for the end, and used the mig to make up the sides. Plenty of welding, filing and grinding ensued...

Still the top bung to make, oh and the other side... But coming along nicely!

The lair

The "deathcat lair" as guy called it is slowly coming on. When I get to steal a bit of time ice been chipping away at getting it usable and working on the 45. Need the engine back from baz so I can get on with mounts for the controls etc...

The lads popped round on Thursday night for a catch up. Tombo ( www.holmevalleycustoms.com ) bought a wicked present over for me. Thanks dude!

I've probably mentioned before, but Tombo is selling some ace fabrication parts, weld on tabs and threaded bungs. Great prices, and in my eyes, not worth making yourself... Check out his website...

So far I've mounted the rear fender at the bottom with a tab and bung, and used a 6mm tab on the headlight mount!

Headlight mount - 45

Sneaked a bit of time up the barn today. Got the lights wired in, the nights are drawing in now- gonna be needing them.

Got cracking on version 2 of the headlight mount.

Pantastic!

Just realised I haven't said much about the pan!

Linkert carb on order, seems a little low on compression, but I'm more than a tad happy!
